With marriage laws set to change in Northern Ireland, it would seem that LGBTQ+ people throughout the British Isles can now live equally with their heterosexual counterparts. But as queer and trans people are too aware, true equality is far beyond what is written on paper.
Our Mel Underwood was featured in a short film looking at the barriers LGBTQ+ people still face. The film was made by Kathi Liesenfeld.
What was it like growing up queer in a small town in South Wales?

Recently I met with film maker and journalist Kathi Liesenfeld to discuss these topics .
The documentary follows the lives of two queer people living in Liverpool and their honest accounts of coming out and what it is like to be LGBTQ+ in today’s society. It also gives a short history of how Liverpool Queer Collective came to be and the ethos behind our work.
