LGBT+ Book Group @ Root Coffee

  • Root Coffee 52 Hanover Street Liverpool, L1 4AF (map)

Monthly fiction book group ran by Steven Benson:

We read ALL GENRES OF FICTION, with a slight emphasis towards LGBT+ content.

SLIGHTLY ALTERED FORMAT (as a trial!):

PART 1:as usual: discussion of the set book, "CONVERSATIONS WITH FRIENDS" (Sally ROONEY), a contemporary novel about abuse, and psychological self-harm (TRIGGER WARNING); amongst many other topics.

PART 2; a twist to usual format. STILL a fairly loose format but a chance (NO OBLIGATION!)) to discuss one of the following two series of books to match a theme in the set book; or a guide on an unrelated topic which interests as you, as it is laid out in a fiction piece!

An example of 2 series:

and if you think more pictorially: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Introducing-Feminism-Graphic-Cathia-Jenainati/dp/1848311214/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=comic+book+feminism+guide&qid=1558732206&s=gateway&sr=8-3
ALTERNATIVELY, if this is not your thing: you can talk about (fiction)books you have recently read and might recommend:)

We shall, briefly, evaluate if this is a workable idea; and return to the previous format if needed!

AFTER ATTENDING TWICE, you get to choose the book(when your turn comes!). SO, if your turn is coming up in the next 4 months, it would be great if you could have a book in mind(for when your turn comes) as we have found choosing books at the end of each session is a bit hurried!

Respect guidelines apply, ie if you cannot agree, please agree to DISagree!

EVENT FREE; but for miimum purchase one drink.

Venue sells:
