Film with Pride presents
Our Dirty Thoughts season kicks off with Mulan, the Disney Classic - introduced by Esme Grace Brown and Zena "Zee" Davine, exploring the film's relevance for queer audiences. In a tale from Chinese culture, Mulan impersonates a man to take the place of her father so she can save him from conscription; its Disney so there are plenty of songs along the way!
Join us afterwards for the discussion about where we find our queers selves in the things we watch as young people, including the queer significance of Tom & Jerry for Esme Grace.
Esme Grace Brown is a Fine Art Graduate, vocalist in queer punk band Piss Kitti and wife of Zena Davine, residing together in Wallasey with their two cats Twiggy and Fat Louis.
Best known as the front person of Liverpool queer punk pioneers Queen Zee, Zena "Zee" Davine has become known for their chaotic live show, tounge in cheek humour and DIY ethos.
Called "The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Stereoids" by BBC Radio Ones Phill Taggart, Queen Zee have rapidly become one of the UK's fastest growing queer names" and their first album is released in February.
